Description
A warm and comforting Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal recipe that combines creamy oats with sautéed cinnamon-spiced apples and crunchy pecans, perfect for a nutritious and delicious breakfast in just 10 minutes.
Ingredients
Oatmeal
- ½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup water or milk
- ½ tablespoon maple syrup (or brown sugar or coconut sugar, optional)
- ¼-½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
Apple Topping
- ½ cup diced apples
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
Instructions
- Cook apples: In a small saucepan, combine diced apples, 2 teaspoons of maple syrup, and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Sauté over medium heat for a few minutes until the apples soften and take on a baked-like appearance. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Cook oats: In another saucepan, add rolled oats, 1 cup water or milk, ½ tablespoon maple syrup (optional), ¼-½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Bring the mixture to a low boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a low simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and the texture is creamy.
- Serve: Transfer the cooked oatmeal to a bowl. Top generously with the sautéed cinnamon apples and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Add an extra pinch of cinnamon and sweetener if desired. Enjoy warm.
Notes
- You can substitute water with milk or a non-dairy milk alternative for creamier oatmeal.
- Adjust cinnamon quantity according to your personal preference for spice intensity.
- For added texture and flavors, consider adding raisins or dried cranberries along with the apples.
- This recipe is easily doubled or tripled for multiple servings.
- Leftover oatmeal can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated with a splash of milk or water.
