Ingredients
Apple Filling
- 1 can (24 oz) apple pie filling
Cinnamon Rolls
- 1 can Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (not Grands), with icing packet
Optional Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
- Dash of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 or 9x9-inch baking dish to prevent sticking, then set it aside for later.
- Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Open the can of cinnamon rolls and carefully set aside the icing packet for later use. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters to create smaller, bite-sized pieces for the cobbler.
- Cut Apple Slices: Using a knife, cut any long apple slices in the pie filling into smaller pieces to ensure an even mix with the cinnamon rolls.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, gently mix the cinnamon roll quarters and the apple pie filling pieces together. Stir just enough to combine without breaking the pieces apart.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly for uniform baking.
- Bake the Cobbler: Place the baking dish uncovered into the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. The cobbler should be golden and cooked through.
- Check for Doneness: Use an instant-read thermometer to check the center of a doughy piece, aiming for a temperature between 190 - 200°F (88 - 93°C) to ensure the rolls are thoroughly baked.
- Cool and Ice: Allow the cobbler to cool slightly after baking. Meanwhile, prepare the optional icing by mixing the reserved icing packet with powdered sugar, milk or cream, and a dash of vanilla extract. Drizzle this icing over the warm cobbler before serving.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Apple Cinnamon Roll Cobbler warm for the best taste and texture, enjoying the combination of sweet apples and cinnamon swirls.
Notes
- If you prefer a thicker cobbler filling, drain excess liquid from the apple pie filling before mixing.
- The optional icing can be substituted with store-bought or omitted for a less sweet finish.
- Use a baking dish size of 8x8 or 9x9 inches for optimal baking results; larger dishes may affect baking time.
- For a more rustic texture, gently fold the ingredients instead of stirring vigorously to keep cinnamon roll pieces intact.
- Let the cobbler cool a bit before icing to prevent icing from melting too much and becoming runny.
