Description

This decadent Apple Pie a la Mode combines a graham cracker crust layered with sweet apple pie filling, creamy butter pecan ice cream, and rich hot caramel topping. Toasted pecans add a crunchy finish to this no-bake, frozen dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Pie Base and Filling

  • 1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
  • 1 graham cracker crust (9 inches)

Ice Cream and Toppings

  • 2 cups butter pecan ice cream, softened if necessary
  • 1 jar (12 ounces) hot caramel ice cream topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Layer the pie filling and ice cream in the crust: Spread half of the apple pie filling evenly over the graham cracker crust. Then, spread half of the softened butter pecan ice cream on top of the apple filling. Place the pie in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up the layers. (Tip: Soften ice cream in the fridge for 20 minutes prior to assembly for easier spreading.)
  2. Add caramel and the remaining apple pie filling: Remove the pie from the freezer and drizzle half of the hot caramel ice cream topping over the ice cream layer. Next, spoon the remaining apple pie filling on top. Return the pie to the freezer for another 30 minutes or until the new layers are set firmly.
  3. Scoop ice cream on top, then freeze: Take the pie out again and scoop the remaining butter pecan ice cream on top of the layered filling. Cover the pie tightly with cling wrap and freeze until firm. (Tip: For a classic presentation, pile the ice cream in mounds rather than spreading evenly.)
  4. Garnish and serve: Before serving, let the pie sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to soften slightly. While waiting, warm the remaining caramel topping in the microwave and toast the chopped pecans using your preferred method (oven, stovetop, microwave, or air fryer). Drizzle the warmed caramel over the pie and sprinkle with toasted pecans for a perfect finish.

Notes

  • Soften the ice cream in the refrigerator 20 minutes before assembling for easier spreading.
  • Toast pecans in the oven, stovetop, microwave, or air fryer for enhanced flavor and crunch.
  • Allow the pie to sit at room temperature before slicing to make it easier to cut and serve.
  • Keep the pie well covered in the freezer to prevent ice crystals and preserve freshness.
