Ingredients
Flatbread & Sauce
- 1 premade flatbread (such as Aldi's)
- 6 tablespoons BBQ sauce
Chicken & Cheese
- 1 cup cooked and chopped chicken
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Vegetables & Garnish
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 jalapeno, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare flatbread: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and place the premade flatbread on it. Spray the edges of the flatbread with the cooking spray as well to help with crisping.
- Apply BBQ sauce and chicken: Spread 4 tablespoons of the BBQ sauce evenly over the surface of the flatbread. Toss the cooked, chopped chicken with the remaining 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce, then layer this mixture evenly over the sauced flatbread.
- Add cheeses and red onions: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the BBQ chicken layer, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese. Then, distribute the thinly sliced red onion evenly over the top of the cheese layers.
- Add jalapeno slices (optional): If you like a little heat, arrange the thin jalapeno slices evenly over the red onions.
- Bake the flatbread: Place the baking sheet with the prepared flatbread into the preheated oven. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheeses are melted and golden brown. After baking, remove from the oven and allow to cool a few minutes before cutting with a pizza cutter.
- Garnish and serve: Optionally, sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro over the top for a fresh flavor, or drizzle ranch dressing before serving to add creaminess.
- Store leftovers: Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Use premade cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken for a quick assembly.
- Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce according to your taste preference.
- For a spicier flatbread, add more jalapenos or include a dash of hot sauce.
- You can substitute flatbread with naan or pita as alternatives.
- Leftover flatbread can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes to crisp up the toppings again.
- Adding fresh cilantro and ranch dressing after baking elevates the flavor with freshness and creaminess.
