Ingredients
Tea
- 1 butterfly pea flower tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose butterfly pea flower tea)
- ⅓ cup hot water (heated to 195°F)
Beverage
- ⅔ cup lemonade
- 1 cup ice
- 2 lemon slices (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat Water: Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle, setting the temperature to 195°F to ensure optimal steeping conditions for the butterfly pea flower tea.
- Steep Tea: Place the butterfly pea flower tea bag into a teapot, pour in ⅓ cup of the hot water, and cover. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes to extract the vibrant color and mild flavor, then remove the tea bag and allow the tea to cool down completely.
- Prepare Lemonade: Fill a cup with 1 cup of ice and pour in ⅔ cup of lemonade.
- Combine and Garnish: Add the cooled butterfly pea flower tea to the lemonade over the ice, stirring gently to mix the flavors and create a beautiful color gradient. Optionally, garnish with two thin lemon slices for an extra citrus aroma and visual appeal.
Notes
- Use water heated to 195°F for the best tea extraction without bitterness.
- Butterfly pea flower tea can be steeped longer without getting bitter, allowing flexibility in flavor intensity.
- The color of the drink changes when lemon is added due to pH change, providing a magical visual effect.
- For a sweeter drink, add honey or simple syrup to taste.
- Can be served chilled or over ice for a refreshing experience.
