Description

This comforting Chicken Tater Tot Casserole is a hearty, creamy dish loaded with shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, and topped with crispy tater tots. Perfect for a family dinner, it combines easy-to-find ingredients into a delicious baked casserole that's warm, cheesy, and satisfying.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 (10 Ounce) Can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 (10 Ounce) Can Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
  • 1/3 Cup Milk
  • 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Packet Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • 32 Ounce Package Frozen Tater Tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, condensed cheddar cheese soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning mix, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined. Then fold in the cooked shredded chicken evenly.
  3. Assemble Casserole: Pour the chicken mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Arrange an even layer of frozen tater tots on top of the chicken mixture to cover the surface.
  4. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Bake until the casserole is hot throughout, bubbly around the edges, and the tater tots are golden and crispy.

Notes

  • Using cooked, shredded chicken helps speed up the preparation process.
  • Make sure the tater tots are thawed slightly if you want them crispier, or use frozen for a softer topping.
  • You can substitute ranch seasoning mix with your favorite dry herb blend if preferred.
  • For extra cheesy topping, sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese on top before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
