Description
Delight in these elegant and easy-to-make Chocolate Covered Strawberries, perfect for parties, gifts, or a romantic treat. Fresh strawberries are dipped in a luscious blend of melted semisweet and milk chocolate with coconut oil for a smooth, glossy finish. Chilling them sets the chocolate for a crisp, decadent shell around juicy berries.
Ingredients
Chocolate Coating
- 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, broken into smaller blocks or chopped
- 5 ounces milk chocolate, broken into smaller blocks or chopped
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil
Strawberries
- 2 pounds fresh strawberries with stems (about 20 strawberries)
Instructions
- Prepare the workspace: Line a sheet pan with parchment or wax paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup. Set aside this lined pan for placing your dipped strawberries.
- Wash and dry strawberries: Thoroughly wash the strawberries, keeping their stems intact. Use paper towels to pat them completely dry, as any moisture will prevent chocolate from adhering properly to the berries.
- Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine both the semisweet and milk chocolate pieces with coconut oil. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Dip strawberries: Pierce the stem end of each strawberry with a fork, then dip it into the melted chocolate. Lift it slightly above the bowl and gently twist a couple of times to allow excess chocolate to drip off. Place each dipped strawberry on the lined sheet pan. Repeat for all strawberries.
- Chill to set chocolate: Place the chocolate-dipped strawberries in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden properly.
- Optional chocolate drizzle: If desired, melt any leftover chocolate again. Dip the tip of a fork into the melted chocolate and drizzle it over the strawberries in a zig-zag pattern to add a decorative touch. Refrigerate the strawberries again for an additional 30 minutes or until this drizzle is set.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to achieve a good chocolate coating.
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best taste and smooth texture.
- Coconut oil helps the chocolate melt smoothly and gives a glossy finish.
- Store the chocolate covered strawberries in the refrigerator and consume within 1-2 days for best freshness.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute milk chocolate with vegan chocolate.
