Description

Crispy and flavorful roasted chickpeas made effortlessly in the air fryer. This healthy snack is seasoned with a blend of garlic, onion, paprika, and a hint of cayenne for a spicy kick. Perfect for a protein-packed, crunchy treat that's ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Chickpeas

  • 19 oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed

Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Set the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and allow it to heat up before cooking to ensure even roasting.
  2. Prepare the chickpeas: Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. There’s no need to dry them completely. Toss the chickpeas with olive oil and all the spices — salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne if using — making sure they are evenly coated.
  3. Air fry the chickpeas: Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook them for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times during cooking to ensure they roast evenly and become crisp all around.
  4. Adjust seasoning: Once cooked, remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and taste. Adjust salt or spices as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Cool and store: Allow the chickpeas to cool completely to maintain their crispiness before storing them in an open container to retain texture.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, let the chickpeas dry a bit longer before air frying.
  • If you prefer less heat, omit the cayenne pepper.
  • Store cooled roasted chickpeas in an open container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Shake the basket during cooking to avoid burning and ensure even crisping.
  • Experiment with other spices like cumin or chili powder for different flavor variations.
