Ingredients
Beef
- 2 lbs ribeye beef, thinly sliced
Vegetables
- 2 green bell peppers, sliced into long strips
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced into half rings
- 1 lb mushrooms, bite-sized pieces
Dairy
- 1 lb provolone cheese slices
Other
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 6 hoagie rolls
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Slice the ribeye beef into thin strips. Cut the green bell peppers into long strips, the onion into half rings, and the mushrooms into bite-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
- Cook Veggies: Preheat a skillet over high heat and add the cooking oil. Once hot, add the sliced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Sauté the vegetables until they turn golden brown and caramelized, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Beef with Cheese: In the same skillet, add the sliced ribeye beef and season it with salt and ground black pepper. Sauté the beef until fully cooked and browned. Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet and stir to combine everything evenly. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the mixture and let it melt for about a minute.
- Serve: Fill the hoagie rolls with the hot beef, vegetable, and cheese mixture. Toast the rolls beforehand if desired, then serve immediately for a delicious Philly cheesesteak experience.
Notes
- Ribeye is recommended for its tenderness and marbling but you can substitute with sirloin or other tender cuts.
- To add extra flavor, season vegetables with a pinch of garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce while sautéing.
- To melt the cheese more quickly, cover the skillet briefly after placing cheese slices.
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or hot sauce.
- Use fresh hoagie rolls for the best texture and flavor.
