Ingredients
Salad Ingredients
- 1 small iceberg lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
- 3 cups romaine lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
- 1 small carrot, cut into matchsticks
- 1 medium English cucumber, sliced
- 4 medium radishes, sliced
- 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Dressing
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Salad Ingredients: Start by washing and drying the iceberg and romaine lettuce, then tear them into bite-size pieces. Peel and cut the carrot into matchsticks. Slice the English cucumber, radishes, cherry tomatoes, and red onion as instructed, then place all these vegetables in a large mixing bowl.
- Add Cheese and Toss: Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl with the vegetables. Gently toss all the salad ingredients together to evenly combine the flavors and textures.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the extra virgin olive oil, white vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and pepper until the dressing is smooth and well emulsified.
- Dress and Serve: Pour your desired amount of the dressing over the salad, toss thoroughly to coat all the ingredients, then transfer to serving plates or a large salad bowl. Optionally, top with extra grated cheese, chopped nuts, or fresh herbs for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately for the freshest taste.
Notes
- For a vegan version, omit the cheddar cheese or substitute with a plant-based cheese alternative.
- Feel free to add chopped nuts such as walnuts or almonds for crunch.
- The salad dressing can be customized by swapping white vinegar with apple cider or balsamic vinegar.
- Use fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or cilantro for garnish and enhanced flavor.
- To keep the salad crisp, add the dressing just before serving.
