Description

A classic Full English Breakfast featuring savory sausages, back bacon, optional black pudding, caramelized mushrooms, seared tomatoes, baked beans, fried eggs, and golden fried bread, all cooked on the stovetop for a hearty and traditional British start to your day.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 4 links breakfast sausages
  • 4 slices back bacon (or Irish bacon)
  • 4 slices black pudding (optional)
  • 4 eggs

Vegetables & Sides

  • 1 can baked beans (Heinz preferred)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, halved or sliced
  • 2 small tomatoes, halved

Bread & Fats

  • 4 slices bread
  • Oil or butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat Beans: Pour the baked beans into a small pot and heat over low heat until warmed through. Keep the pot on low to keep the beans warm throughout cooking.
  2. Cook Meats: Over medium to medium-low heat in a large pan, cook the sausages, turning occasionally, until browned and fully cooked. Using the same pan, add the back bacon slices and cook, flipping as needed until crisp and cooked through. If using black pudding, fry the slices over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and crispy.
  3. Prepare Vegetables: In a separate pan, heat a small amount of oil and add the mushrooms without stirring, allowing them to brown and caramelize. Once browned, remove the mushrooms from the pan. Then, sear the cut side of the tomatoes briefly in the same pan until lightly browned. Season mushrooms and tomatoes with salt and pepper.
  4. Fry Bread: Wipe the pan clean and add a bit of oil or butter over medium heat. Fry the bread slices until golden brown on both sides, adding extra oil or butter as needed to prevent sticking and to achieve crispiness. Remove and set aside.
  5. Cook Eggs: Using the same pan, fry the eggs to your preferred doneness—whether sunny side up, over easy, or fully cooked.
  6. Assemble & Serve: Arrange the sausages, bacon, black pudding (if using), caramelized mushrooms, seared tomatoes, fried bread, eggs, and warm baked beans on serving plates. Serve immediately for a traditional Full English Breakfast experience.

Notes

  • Black pudding is optional but traditional; can be omitted if preferred.
  • Use back bacon or Irish bacon for authenticity, but substitute with regular bacon if needed.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste for vegetables and meats.
  • Cook eggs according to personal preference for yolk doneness.
  • Maintain medium to medium-low heat to ensure meats cook thoroughly without burning.
