Description

A soothing and aromatic ginger tea recipe that combines the boldness of black tea with the warmth of fresh ginger and the creaminess of low-fat milk. Perfect for a refreshing beverage or to help ease digestion and boost immunity.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons black tea powder or black tea leaves
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons grated fresh ginger

Milk & Sweetener

  • ½ cup low-fat milk
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (optional, can substitute with honey or other sweeteners)

Instructions

  1. Boil Water with Tea and Ginger: Add 2 cups of water to a medium saucepan and place it on medium-high heat. Stir in the black tea powder or leaves along with 2 to 3 teaspoons of grated fresh ginger. Bring the mixture to a full boil.
  2. Simmer Tea: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and allow the tea and ginger mixture to simmer gently for 2 minutes. This step helps extract the flavors deeply.
  3. Add Milk and Boil Again: Pour in ½ cup of low-fat milk and raise the heat back to medium-high. Bring the tea back to a full boil, then either turn off the heat or let it simmer on low for an additional 2 minutes to enhance the strength and richness of the tea.
  4. Strain and Sweeten: Use a fine mesh strainer to filter the tea into two cups, removing the tea leaves and ginger pieces. Stir in 2 teaspoons of sugar or your preferred sweetener like honey to taste. Serve immediately while hot for the best flavor and comfort.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of ginger according to your preference for spiciness and aroma.
  • Use honey instead of sugar for a natural sweetener that adds a distinct flavor.
  • For a vegan version, substitute the low-fat milk with plant-based milk like almond or soy milk.
  • Simmering longer after adding milk will produce a stronger, more robust tea.
  • Black tea powder or loose tea leaves both work well; adjust quantity slightly if using leaves to your taste.
