Ingredients
Golden Milk Ingredients
- 2 cups O Organics coconut milk
- 3/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch black pepper
- Pinch freshly ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey) (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon (for garnishing)
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the coconut milk, ground turmeric, cinnamon stick, ground ginger, black pepper, nutmeg, coconut oil, and maple syrup.
- Bring to low boil: Heat the mixture until it begins to gently boil, stirring occasionally to combine the flavors.
- Simmer: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the spices to infuse fully.
- Strain the milk: After simmering, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the solid spices, discarding the solids.
- Add vanilla and adjust sweetness: Stir in the vanilla extract, then taste the milk and adjust the sweetness by adding more maple syrup or honey if desired.
- Serve: Pour the golden milk into cups and garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon before serving warm.
Notes
- Use full-fat coconut milk for a richer, creamier texture.
- Adjust sweetness according to your preference by varying the amount of maple syrup or honey.
- Black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin from turmeric.
- This drink can be enjoyed hot or chilled.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat gently before serving.
