Description
A refreshing homemade lemonade made with fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and water. Perfectly balanced for a sweet and tangy drink that can be quickly prepared and enjoyed chilled or over ice.
Ingredients
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (236ml)
Lemonade
- 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (seeds removed, pulp may remain)
- 5 cups water (1180ml)
Instructions
- Make Simple Syrup: Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Place the pan over medium-low heat and stir continuously until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove the pan from heat and set aside to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Combine Lemon and Syrup: Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add the cooled simple syrup mixture to the lemon juice and stir well to combine.
- Add Remaining Water and Serve: Pour in the remaining 5 cups of water and stir thoroughly. The lemonade can be poured over ice immediately and served, or you can refrigerate it for several hours to chill before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the sugar amount to taste if you prefer a sweeter or more tart lemonade.
- For a pulp-free version, strain the lemon juice before using.
- Add fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for garnish and extra flavor.
- Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for best freshness.
