Description

This Iced Dirty Matcha Latte combines vibrant matcha green tea with a shot of espresso for a deliciously energizing drink. Sweetened lightly with maple syrup and served over ice with your choice of milk, it’s a refreshing and easy-to-make beverage perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Matcha Mixture

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder (ceremonial or good-quality culinary grade)
  • 2–3 tablespoons hot water
  • 1–2 teaspoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Drink Base

  • 3/4 cup cold milk of choice (whole, oat, almond, or preferred milk)
  • 1 shot espresso or 2 oz strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • Ice (enough to fill the glass)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Matcha: Add the matcha powder and hot water directly into your serving glass. Use a handheld whisk or matcha frother to whisk the mixture until smooth and lightly foamy.
  2. Add Sweetener: Incorporate the maple syrup into the frothy matcha and whisk again for a few seconds to mix fully.
  3. Add Ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill the drink properly.
  4. Add Milk: Pour your chosen cold milk over the ice, filling most of the glass.
  5. Top with Espresso: Gently pour the shot of espresso or cooled strong brewed coffee on top. Stir lightly if you prefer a blended flavor, or leave layers distinct for visual appeal.

Notes

  • Use ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor, but culinary grade also works well.
  • Adjust the maple syrup amount to your preferred sweetness level or substitute with honey or agave.
  • You can substitute the espresso shot with cold brew coffee for a smoother taste.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk such as oat or almond.
  • Make sure the coffee is cooled before adding to prevent melting the ice too quickly.
