Ingredients
Matcha Mixture
- 1–2 grams matcha powder (½ to 1 teaspoon)
- 2 oz hot water (165–175°F)
- 1–2 teaspoons sweetener (optional)
- 1 cup ice
Milk
- 6–8 oz milk (any kind)
Lavender Foam
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon milk (for foam)
- 1 tablespoon lavender syrup
- 1 drop red food coloring (optional)
- 2 drops blue food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Sift and Whisk the Matcha: Add ½ to 1 teaspoon matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour in 2 oz hot water heated to 165–175°F. Whisk the mixture in an “M” motion vigorously until smooth, frothy, and free of lumps.
- Sweeten the Matcha: Stir in 1–2 teaspoons of sweetener if desired. Mix thoroughly until fully dissolved to enhance the flavor balance.
- Add Ice and Milk: Fill a tall glass with 1 cup of ice cubes. Pour 6–8 oz of your preferred milk over the ice, preparing the base of the latte.
- Pour the Matcha: Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the milk and ice. You can either leave the drink beautifully layered or gently stir to combine.
- Make Lavender Foam: In a separate small cup, combine 3 tablespoons heavy cream, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1 tablespoon lavender syrup. Add 1 drop of red and 2 drops of blue food coloring if using for a subtle purple hue. Froth the mixture for 15–25 seconds until it becomes light and pourable.
- Top and Serve: Gently pour the lavender foam over the matcha latte, creating a visually appealing layered effect. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Use freshly sifted matcha powder to avoid clumps and ensure a smooth latte.
- Adjust sweetener quantity to taste or omit for a naturally earthy flavor.
- You can use dairy or plant-based milk according to your preference.
- The lavender syrup adds a floral note; adjust amount according to your taste.
- Add food coloring only if you want a vibrant lavender foam color; it does not affect flavor.
- Froth the cream mixture well to achieve a light and airy foam topping.
- Serve immediately to maintain the foam texture and iced temperature.
