Description

This creamy and spicy Jalapeño Popper Dip is a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for game days, parties, or any casual gathering. Featuring a luscious blend of cream cheese, sour cream, sharp cheddar, Parmesan, and diced jalapeños, it’s baked until bubbly and topped with a crispy, buttery Panko breadcrumb crust garnished with fresh parsley for an added burst of flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Dip

  • 4 ounces diced jalapeños (1 can well drained, or fresh jalapeños finely diced)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Topping

  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter (or margarine)
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the dip.
  2. Mix Cream Base: Using a mixer on medium speed, blend the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, and sour cream together until the mixture is light, fluffy, and smooth.
  3. Add Cheeses and Jalapeños: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, ¾ cup shredded Parmesan cheese, and the well-drained diced jalapeños. Mix everything until fully combined and evenly distributed.
  4. Prepare Baking Dish: Spread the creamy mixture evenly into an 8x8 inch baking dish, smoothing the top for an even layer.
  5. Make Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the Panko bread crumbs, melted butter, ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix well to coat the crumbs evenly with butter.
  6. Top the Dip: Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer, covering the surface to create a crispy crust after baking.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly and the breadcrumb topping turns golden brown and crisp.

Notes

  • If using fresh jalapeños, remove seeds for less heat and finely dice before adding to the dip.
  • Allow cream cheese to soften at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Use Panko breadcrumbs for the best crispy topping texture.
  • Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or sliced baguette for dipping.
  • For a milder dip, reduce the amount of jalapeños or substitute with a milder pepper.
