Description

This Melt in Your Mouth Caesar Chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts baked to perfection with a creamy Caesar dressing and Parmesan cheese topping. The combination of savory Parmesan, zesty Caesar dressing, and a touch of sour cream creates a rich and flavorful dish that’s perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Cheese and Dressing

  • 1½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup Caesar salad dressing
  • ½ cup sour cream (room temperature, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray the inside of an 8x11½-inch baking pan with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Pound Chicken: If your chicken breasts have uneven thickness, place them in a Ziplock bag on a flat surface and gently pound them to an even thickness of about ¾ to 1 inch. This ensures even cooking and tender texture.
  3. Season Chicken: Sprinkle both sides of the chicken breasts with 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and the freshly ground black pepper. Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking pan.
  4. Prepare Dressing Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the Caesar salad dressing and sour cream until smooth and well combined.
  5. Assemble Dish: Pour the Caesar and sour cream mixture evenly over each chicken breast. Then sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese on top to create a cheesy crust.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the middle breast registers 150°F (65°C).
  7. Broil: After baking, switch your oven to the broil setting. Broil the chicken breasts for 2 to 4 minutes until the top turns golden brown and crispy. Watch closely to avoid burning. The chicken is fully cooked when the thermometer reads 165°F (74°C).
  8. Rest: Remove the chicken from the oven and loosely cover it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, ensuring moist and tender chicken.
  9. Garnish and Serve: If desired, garnish the chicken breasts with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and fresh flavor before serving.

Notes

  • For even cooking, make sure to pound the chicken to a uniform thickness.
  • Using freshly grated Parmesan cheese enhances flavor and texture more than pre-grated options.
  • Watch the chicken closely during broiling to prevent burning.
  • Allowing the chicken to rest after cooking helps keep it juicy.
  • Optional sour cream adds richness, but you can omit it for a lighter version.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
