Description

This One-Pan Beef & Broccoli recipe is a quick and delicious stir-fry meal that combines tender, thinly sliced beef with crisp broccoli florets in a savory-sweet sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it cooks entirely on the stovetop in a single skillet for easy cleanup and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Beef & Broccoli

  • 2 lb beef, sliced very thin
  • 4 cups broccoli, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed

Sauce

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 5 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp corn starch
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, combine pressed garlic, hot water, low sodium soy sauce, brown sugar, corn starch, and sesame oil. Whisk well until smooth and set aside.
  2. Cook the Broccoli: Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add the broccoli pieces and cook until they soften, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the same skillet. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook over medium heat until it turns golden brown and is cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked beef in the skillet. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer to activate the thickening properties of the corn starch.
  5. Combine and Finish: Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet. Stir everything together to coat the beef and broccoli evenly with the sauce. Cook for an additional 3 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  6. Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot. This dish pairs excellently with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Be sure to slice the beef very thinly to ensure quick cooking and tender bites.
  • Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of brown sugar to taste.
  • Adding a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes can introduce a subtle heat.
  • Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
