Description

The Paloma is a refreshing Mexican cocktail combining tequila, fresh grapefruit juice, and sparkling water, with a hint of lime and sweetness, perfectly balanced with a salted rim and served over ice. Ideal for a quick, vibrant drink that’s both tangy and bubbly.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice (plus wedges for garnish)
  • 2 ounces sparkling water
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ¼ ounce agave nectar or simple syrup (or to taste)
  • Coarse sea salt (for the rim of the glass)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Rub a grapefruit wedge around the rim of the glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into a small plate of coarse sea salt to coat it evenly. This adds a salty contrast to the cocktail's flavors.
  2. Mix the Drink: In the prepared glass, combine the tequila, fresh grapefruit juice, sparkling water, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar or simple syrup. Stir gently to blend the ingredients together.
  3. Add Ice and Adjust Sweetness: Fill the remainder of the glass with ice to chill the drink. Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more agave nectar or simple syrup if desired.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the cocktail with a wedge of fresh grapefruit placed on the rim or inside the glass. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Paloma.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed grapefruit and lime juice for the best, freshest flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness according to your taste preference; start with less and add more if needed.
  • For a stronger grapefruit aroma, consider adding a splash of grapefruit soda instead of sparkling water.
  • Coarse sea salt works best for rimming; regular salt can be too fine.
  • Serve immediately after preparation to enjoy the effervescence of the sparkling water.
