Description

A delicious twist on classic grilled cheese, this Pizza Grilled Cheese sandwich combines melted mozzarella, pepperoni, and garlic parmesan butter spread on crispy toasted bread, served with warm pizza sauce for dipping. Perfect for a quick and comforting meal.

Ingredients

Butter Spread

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (very soft)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

Sandwich

  • 8 slices white bread
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces pepperoni slices
  • Warm pizza sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the very soft unsalted butter, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and dried Italian seasoning until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Spread the Butter: Evenly spread the butter mixture over one side of each bread slice. Place the bread slices butter side up on a sheet tray and set aside until ready to use.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place one slice of bread butter side down onto the skillet. Layer one slice of mozzarella cheese on the bread, followed by 6 slices of pepperoni, then another slice of mozzarella cheese, 6 more pepperoni slices, and a final slice of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Top the Sandwich: Place another slice of bread on top, butter side up, completing the sandwich. You may have leftover pepperoni.
  5. Cook the Sandwich: Cover the skillet with a lid to help melt the cheese. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the bottom bread slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula, cover again, and cook the other side until golden brown and cheese is melted in the center.
  6. Repeat & Serve: Repeat the process with the remaining sandwiches. Serve immediately with warm pizza sauce for dipping and enjoy your pizza grilled cheese delight.

Notes

  • Use medium-low heat to ensure the cheese melts without burning the bread.
  • Butter should be very soft to spread evenly.
  • Covering the skillet with a lid helps melt the cheese faster and more evenly.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture, as the bread can become soggy if left too long.
  • Adjust the amount of pepperoni according to your taste preference.
