Ingredients
Matcha Layer
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1/4 cup hot water (not boiling)
Pumpkin Milk Mixture
- 1 cup milk (whole or oat milk works great)
- 2 tbsp pumpkin purée
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (or sugar)
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Other
- 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Make the Matcha: Whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with 1/4 cup of hot water until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy. Ensure the water is hot but not boiling to preserve the matcha's delicate flavor.
- Make Pumpkin Cream: In a glass, combine 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of pumpkin purée, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is homogeneous and smooth.
- Add Ice: Fill your serving glass with 1 cup of ice cubes to chill the drink and prepare for layering.
- Pour Pumpkin Milk: Carefully pour the pumpkin milk mixture over the ice, filling about three-quarters of the glass to leave room for the matcha layer on top.
- Add Matcha Layer: Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the pumpkin milk to create an attractive layered drink, allowing the vibrant green matcha to sit on top.
- Serve: Serve immediately for the best taste and visual effect, enjoying the harmonious blend of pumpkin spice and matcha flavors.
Notes
- Use hot water that is hot but not boiling (around 175°F/80°C) to avoid bitterness in the matcha.
- Oat milk is a great dairy-free alternative that pairs well with pumpkin flavors.
- Adjust the amount of maple syrup to taste depending on your sweetness preference.
- Gently pouring the matcha over the pumpkin mixture helps maintain the layered look.
- For a warmer version, omit the ice and serve the pumpkin milk and matcha warm.
