Perfect for parties, game day, or a tasty homemade treat, they offer a delicious twist on classic pretzels with a zesty ranch flavor.
Ingredients
Pretzels
- 16 ounces mini pretzels (see note)
Seasoning Mix
- 1 (1-ounce) packet ranch seasoning (not dip mix, e.g., Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing & Recipe Mix)
- 1 tablespoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Coating
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup vegetable or canola oil (or another neutral-tasting oil of your choice)
Instructions
- Prepare Pretzels: Pour pretzels into a large mixing bowl to start the seasoning process.
- Mix Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine ranch seasoning, dried dill weed, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set this mixture aside for later use.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a liquid measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and oil until smoothly blended. Gradually drizzle this mixture over the pretzels, gently tossing with a rubber spatula to coat all pretzels evenly.
- Add Seasoning Mix: Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the coated pretzels in three to four increments, tossing gently after each addition to ensure even coverage.
- Marinate: Let the seasoned pretzels sit for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring from the bottom 2 to 3 times to allow the buttery ranch flavor to be fully absorbed.
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: While the pretzels marinate, preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and position the rack in the middle. Line a rimmed half-sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Arrange Pretzels on Pan: Spread the pretzels in an even layer on the prepared pan. Use a spatula to scrape any remaining seasoning mixture from the bowl onto the pretzels for extra flavor.
- Bake: Bake the pretzels for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure they dry and crisp evenly. Keep a close watch near the end to prevent over-browning. Most ovens will take about 25 minutes for ideal crispness.
- Cool and Store: Allow the pretzels to cool completely on the baking sheet—they will crisp further as they cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Use mini pretzels for best coating and texture.
- Be careful not to use ranch dip mix, as it lacks the seasoning strength needed; use ranch seasoning packet specifically.
- Stirring during baking helps achieve an even crisp without burning.
- If desired, you can substitute neutral oils like sunflower or grapeseed oil.
- Cool completely before storing to maintain crispiness.
