Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Rolls
- 8 Pillsbury crescent rolls (1 can)
- 2 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 turkey breakfast sausages, fully cooked
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ (190℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat to prevent sticking and ensure easy clean-up.
- Scramble Eggs: In a bowl, beat the 5 eggs thoroughly. Heat 1 teaspoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until melted and hot. Pour in the beaten eggs and gently pull them across the pan with a spatula, forming large soft curds. Continue stirring, folding, and lifting the eggs until they are thickened with no visible liquid, then remove from heat.
- Prepare Crescent Dough: Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour onto your work surface to prevent sticking. Unroll the crescent dough over the floured surface. If needed, use a rolling pin to roll it out slightly to smooth seams. Cut the dough into 8 rectangles by pinching any seams together to seal.
- Assemble Rolls: Place a couple spoonfuls of scrambled eggs onto each dough rectangle. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the eggs and add one fully cooked turkey breakfast sausage link on top. Roll each rectangle up tightly around the filling and place seam-side down on your prepared baking sheet. Repeat this for all 8 rolls.
- Apply Egg Wash & Season: Brush the top of each roll generously with the beaten egg wash to achieve a golden glaze. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over each roll to enhance the flavors.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until the rolls are puffed and golden brown on top.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the sausage with plant-based sausage or omit entirely.
- Ensure sausages are fully cooked before assembling to avoid undercooked meat inside.
- You can prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate; bake fresh in the morning.
- Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
- Use a Silpat or parchment paper to prevent sticking and aid in even baking.
