Description

A refreshing twist on the classic Italian dessert, this Strawberry Tiramisu combines layers of ladyfingers soaked in a homemade strawberry syrup with creamy mascarpone and whipped cream, topped with fresh strawberries for a light, fruity delight.

Ingredients

Strawberry Syrup

  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Water

Tiramisu Layers

  • 1 pound Fresh Strawberries, sliced for layering
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 cups Mascarpone Cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 24-30 Lady Fingers (Savoiardi)

Instructions

  1. Make the Strawberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sliced strawberries, 2 tablespoons sugar, lemon juice, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes until the berries become soft.
  2. Puree and Cool Syrup: Remove the pan from heat and blend the mixture into a smooth puree. Set aside and let it cool to room temperature. This syrup will be used to soak the ladyfingers.
  3. Prepare Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine Mascarpone and Whipped Cream: In another bowl, stir the mascarpone cheese to loosen it, then gently fold in the whipped cream until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and evenly blended.
  5. Soak Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled strawberry syrup. Avoid soaking for too long to prevent them from becoming soggy and falling apart.
  6. First Layer Assembly: Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a 9x9-inch dish or similar container. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers, then top with a layer of sliced fresh strawberries.
  7. Second Layer Assembly: Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers, the remaining mascarpone cream, and the remaining sliced strawberries.
  8. Chill the Dessert: Cover the assembled tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Once chilled, serve the strawberry tiramisu cold for a refreshing and elegant dessert experience.

Notes

  • Do not soak the ladyfingers too long to avoid mushy texture.
  • For best flavor, prepare the dessert at least a few hours ahead or overnight.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best sweetness and color.
  • You can substitute granulated sugar with a natural sweetener if preferred.
  • Ensure mascarpone cheese is at room temperature before mixing to achieve a smooth texture.
